Marković: Portonovi best reflects future Montenegro

While taking a stroll down the Portonovi, one of the largest tourism projects in the Mediterranean, Prime Minister Duško Marković expressed immense satisfaction with works and the fact that Montenegro is to get another world brand and a prestigious high-end resort, with over 1,000 people recruited.

“I’m here again after a year and two months and I can see that Montenegro and the region as well are about to get a new high-class resort,” said he.

PM Marković expressed satisfaction with the fact that more than 700 workers have been employed on the construction site, and that by the end of the year, a total of 1,000 workers will be hired only for construction works.

“We expect hundreds of positions to be opened and, of course, we expect the most exclusive clientele that will not only make a profit to Montenegro, but also bring new value in terms of knowledge and capacities for managing Montenegro’s resources and potentials. Therefore, congratulations to the investor for the quality, dynamics of the works and for what he told us during the project implementation. Indeed, everything I have seen is not only a reason for satisfaction, but for pride as well,” said Prime Minister Duško Marković.

The Azmont management informed the Prime Minister about the results of their work: the fact that the initial investment of €258m was doubled and that the total investment by the end of 2018 will amount to €500m. The value added tax will be excluded, while next year, at the end of the first phase of the project, the total investment will exceed €1bn.

Chairman of the Azmont Board of Directors, Ahmet Erentok, presented data according to which, the resort will recruit 700 people, mainly from Montenegro, when operating in full capacity.

“We have a very hectic schedule and our plan is to implement all the activities. This time next year, in July 2019, people will be strolling around here, enjoying their coffee and food, and we will be very pleased because we will be providing a first-rate service to our guests,” Mr. Erentok said.

PM Marković and Azmont head Erentok agreed that this grandiose project represents an excellent example of high-quality and efficient cooperation between the Government and investors.

“This project best proves how a good investment/project is being realized by a credible and serious investor. This is what Montenegro needs – a good investment, high-quality investment and, of course, a good and responsible investor. The Government is willing to provide all the necessary support to turn this unique resort and this unique location in the Mediterranean into a common good for Montenegro and beyond,” the PM noted.

As for Erentok’s impressions about Montenegro, here’s what he said: “We haven’t had any problem in this country, and I advise all serious investors to come to MNE with a serious project and invest in this country. I say this on the basis of my 35-year business experience. If you come here and invest seriously and in the right way, you can only be satisfied,” said Ahmet Erentok.

At the end of the visit, PM congratulated the Azmont on the successful implementation of the investment, not hiding his enthusiasm for the project.

Finance minister, Darko Radunović, sustainable development and tourism minister, Pavle Radulović, transport and maritime affairs minister, Osman Nurković as well as interior minister Mevludin Nuhodžić, who also enjoyed this soon-to-be luxury resort, accompanied PM Duško Marković today.
