The World Bank fully supports airport concession

The World Bank has supported the Government of Montenegro in its intention to  get into the airport concession, which was announced after today’s meeting between the prime minister Dusko Marković and Frank Heemskerk, an executive director at the Board of the World Bank.
Heemskerk said: “Running airports with public money is very expensive. Public-private partnership represents a good model to boost airport traffic and increase their value. It’s better to use the public money for school building projects.”
According to PM Marković, the airports represent one of the greatest infrastructural potentials and now are at the pretty low level, being the bottleneck for further developments.
Nevertheless, he expects the success of the airports’ valorization and significant benefits to the country’s economy.
