Winter tires required from November 15th

The use of winter equipment for all motor vehicles will be mandatory from November 15th this year until April 1st next year. That means drivers have time until Friday to replace summer tires with winter ones.

Although this was not the case before the proposal for a Road Traffic Safety Act, which is in the parliamentary procedure and is pending its adoption, stipulates that all four tires must be for winter, which means that drivers should be guided by the new legislation.

In the period from November 15th to April 1st during winter conditions, they must have all four winter tires and the minimum tread depth must be 4 mm. This means that you will no longer be able to ride with summer tires and chains on the road where there is snow.

Pursuant to the Law on Road Traffic Safety, it is stipulated that a fine of 50 to 150 euros will be imposed on the driver who participates in the traffic on the road with a vehicle that does not have winter equipment. A legal person who orders or allows his vehicle to participate in traffic without winter equipment is fined between 300 and 2,000 euros.
