President Đukanović: Italy is reliable partner of Montenegro
Italy was the largest foreign investor in Montenegro last year with €116 million worth investments, said the President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, at the reception in Cetinje organized by the Embassy of Italy to Montenegro on the occasion of 140 years from establishing diplomatic relations with Montenegro.
President Đukanović emphasized that two years after Montenegro joined NATO Alliance, the Italian investments doubled compared to the period before NATO membership. The investments amounted to nearly €850 million over the last 13 years.
“Intensive political dialogue, cooperation in the area of defense, internal affairs, justice system, tourism, culture and foreign-trade exchange which has been continuously growing, give us right to be optimistic about the future of our relations,” Mr Đukanović added.
Montenegro is, according to him, a lead candidate for EU accession and has clear strategic vision about belonging to the European civilizational values and the family of European nations and states.
