“Moračica” will be completed by April next year

Range construction of the bridge “Moračica”, the most demanding and most complex facility on first section of the highway Bar- Boljari, will be finished by April, next year.

“Because of its height, range, use of formwork, the bridge connects in the air. We’re going to do console construction of the main carrier. We’re going to lay concrete on both sides of pillars, simultaneously. Everything has to be balanced”, said Ivana Maksimović, from the Department of technical preparation in Section I.

First segment of works on range construction has been completed on each pillar, five of them. Around 152 Chinese workers are currently working on the construction of the bridge which is going to be the greatest in the former Yugoslavia. They need approximately 14 days for one segment of works which includes concreting from 3 -4,5 meters, reinforcement and shifting formwork.

Around 30.000 cubic meters of concrete  will be spent for the range construction of “Moračica” and around 5.200 tons of metal framework will be built into it. Connection of the bridge will be done with the use of special formwork. Then goes process of hydrolysis, laying asphalt, fences and protection from wind.

“The bridge will have a classic pedestrian fence, the so called elastic fence for vehicles as well as fence for the protection from wind, 3,8 meters high. We must obtain permission for every material we use”, says Maksimović.

Height of the pillars is 160 m and the range from the bottom of the riverbed of Morača to the highest point of the bridge will be 202 meters.

“The bridge has been designed in such a way that it meets all standards. If the speed of the wind is higher than allowed, we stop the works”, says Makimović.

Apart from this one, 19 more bridges will be built at the 41-kilometer long section.
