Montenegro’s strategic goal is to be 28th EU member state
Montenegro’s Prime Minister, Mr Zdravko Krivokapić, said that Montenegro’s strategic goal is to be EU’s 28th member. Today, he had a meeting with Mr Olivér Várhelyi, European Enlargement Commissioner and president of the Lower House of the Belgian Federal Parliament, Ms Éliane Tillieux, who said that the state will be happy if Montenegro became 28th EU member state.
“We will be decisive, credible and transparent in the implementation of reforms because our vision is the European future of Montenegro”, Mr Krivokapić said.
Mr Várhelyi said that they are ready to help Montenegro make progress towards the EU.
“It’s time for us to move forward, starting from the progress in the area of rule of law”, Mr Várhelyi said.
“Belgium would be happy if Montenegro became 28th member state, but additional efforts are required especially when it comes to the institutional model of Montenegro, judiciary and independence of that branch”, Ms Tillieux said.
