Montenegro continues to champion the Open Door policy

Montenegro, as a NATO member, continues to strongly support the open door policy and promote the importance of further integration of the region in the alliance, said general director of the Defence Policy Directorate Ivica Ivanovic. He participates in the meeting of political directors of the defence ministries of the member and observer states of the American-Adriatic Charter (A5), which was held in Skopje.

At the meeting, current regional projects in the field of defence and security are discussed, as well as a joint contribution to NATO peacekeeping operations, and the effects of the migrant crisis on the security of the Western Balkans.

Ivanovic pointed out the full commitment of Montenegro to further development of regional cooperation in the field of defence, emphasising that the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Montenegro would continue to strongly support joint projects, exercises and trainings within the American-Adriatic Charter aimed at strengthening defence capabilities and mutual trust.
