In Montenegro Arabs invest in companies, Russians in real estate
Foreign investors from 74 countries invested €380m in Montenegro in the first ten months of this year, which is almost 22% more than in the same period last year.
The first three places hold the United Arab Emirates with nearly €87m, Russia with €50m and Azerbaijan with €45m, says the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG).
They are followed by Italy (€38.2m), Germany (€35.2m), Switzerland (€31.56m), Serbia (€27.39), Cyprus (€23.7), Turkey (19m) and Spain (€13.8m).
The most of money from the UAE, ie €67.9m, was invested in local companies and banks, whereas Azerbaijan ranks second with €45m invested. The Russians are the leading real estate investments of €35.6. When it comes to Italian investors, with €36.9m they are leaders in investments that do not increase the basic capital, so-called intercompany debt.
Gross investments amount to €500m. Foreigners invested €143.7m in enterprises and banks in Montenegro, €120.6m in the purchase of real estate, and €201m in intercompany debt, ie investments that do not increase the fixed capital.
