Marković tomorrow with rapresentatives of „China Road and Bridge Corporation„
Prime Minister Dusko Markovic will have a meeting with representatives of the Chinese CRBC company and the Exim Bank tomorrow , where they will discuss the further works on the highway, i.e. the Matesevo-Andrijevica-Boljare section.
During the Prime Minister’s Question Time in Parliament Marković said that Montenegro was not only encouraged by the European Union in implementing this project, but also by the International Monetary Fund, which used to be the most critical of the project.
“Today, they realise huge benefits from the highway not only when it comes to infrastructure, but also the entire economy“, Marković explained.
Prime Minister added that it is even more important the fact that today Serbia will sign a contract with the Chinese company „China Road and Bridge Corporation„ regarding financing the entire length of the highway through Serbia, to the border with Montenegro near Boljare.
In May 2015 started the construction of the highway Bar – Boljare – Belgrade, which is an important step for the overall development of our country regarding the connection with the region and with the Europe since it’s part of pan-European Corridor XI, a ferry/motorway corridor linking Italy’s Bari to Romania’s Bucharest via Montenegro’s Bar port and Serbia’s Belgrade.
This highway will greatly improve current state in terms of travel time from Bar to Belgrade.
The Chinese company, supported by the Exim Bank, will build 41 km of highway Bar – Boljare ,route Podgorica – Mateševo with total number of 42 tunnels and 92 bridges and viaducts.
Construction of the priority shares Smokovac – Uvac – Mateševo, will last four years and official opening of the highway is expected to be on 10th May 2019.
Construction of the highway will contribute to economic growth of Montenegro in the next five years.
