Markovic: High-quality business environment results in over €1 billion of FDI

Montenegro’s economy has been recording stable growth rates for a decade, said Prime Minister, Mr Duško Marković, on the opening of conference named “Synergy – a key to the regional success”, organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro.

“Positive FDI trend is another confirmation that our business environment is stable and investments are safe. Over €1 billion of net inflow in the past two years – that’s not coincidence, it’s the result of our commitment”, said PM at the conference in Budva.

He pointed out that faster social and economic development couldn’t be based on already applied experience. We need new ideas, entrepreneurial feats, contemporary technologies and improved working methods, said PM.

He stressed that we needed more active social and economic environment if we want that our young and educated people stay in the country.

“We need more creative jobs, active cores of scientific and research thought, new knowledge, credible international partners and centres of economic activities that will attract not only our citizens, but also citizens of neighbouring countries. That’s the only way to respond to contemporary demographic challenges”, Mr Marković said.

Prime Minister understands the disappointment caused by messages coming from relevant European addresses. However, we must not look for the excuses for the new stagnation, said Mr Marković.

“Montenegro is committed to progress and adoption of carefully formulated European policies”, reminded Mr Marković.

He added that Montenegro was committed to any form of regional cooperation and that it would make all its resources available.
