La Parisien: Montenegro is a new Monaco
French weekly magazine La Parisien recommends Montenegro as a destination that you should visit, describing it as an Eldorado for the ultra-rich and a new Monaco.
“280km of coastline on the Adriatic Sea, the Bay of Kotor, the only fjord in the Mediterranean. The Transavia low cost airline has direct flights from Paris to this small country, a part of former Yugoslavia. It has been independent since 2006 and its currency is the euro. It is an Eldorado for the ultra-rich. With the new Porto Montenegro marina and luxury hotels, it has become a new Monaco built in record-breaking time,” it said at the beginning of the text on Montenegro.
The article adds that the legend says that the Canadian billionaire Peter Munk, tired of waiting for a place for a yacht in Monaco, decided to build a marina in the Bay of Kotor, which became the largest marina in Southern Europe.
The author describes Kotor as a medieval town under UNESCO protection, surrounded by 4.5km of very well preserved walls. They show a thousand years of prosperity of Montenegro and the influence of wealthy Venetian merchants who built their palaces there.
The brave ones who climb to 280m above sea level to the fortress of St. John will be rewarded with magnificent views of the Bay of Kotor, the only fjord in the Mediterranean.
