Jelena Savoy’s great-grandson: Montenegro is a reborn state

Montenegro is a country with huge potential, it’s attractive for investment in the area of tourism and business sector, while the natural resources are incredible – you have the sea and mountains. I’m sure I will definitely be back here at the unveiling of monument in honor of my great-grandmother, Montenegrin Princess Elena di Savoia”says Prince Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia in an interview for Pobjeda daily.

Prince Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia said he came to Montenegro upon the invitation of the Metropolitan Mihailo, to find out more about the country of origin of his great-grandmother, the Italian Queen Elena di Savoia, a daughter of the Montenegrin King Nikola.

He was very happy to visit our country in the year when Montenegro and Italy celebrate 140 years of establishing diplomatic relations.
Historically, I am family related to Montenegro, I am one 1/8 Montenegrin. Today, this is a country with huge potential. It is a reborn state that is incredible. I noticed that there is a lot of investment, both in the tourism and business sector. This is a fresh start for an old country and Montenegro has a great opportunity” said the Prince.

During his stay here, at the beginning of September, Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia had the opportunity to meet with the Minister of Culture, Mr Aleksandar Bogdanović, and Mayor of Podgorica and discuss the organization of various events, as well as raising the monument in the memory of Queen Elena di Savoia.

The Queen Elena Foundation was created, through which we will realise the opening of the monument to Queen Jelena, but also we will organise exhibitions and talk about queen`s life.

Speaking about the monument, he expressed his gratitude for the unveiling of the monument to his great-grandmother, as for the fact that Queen Elena was loved in Montenegro as much as in Italy.
“For me, it’s a very important step. It is a symbol for new generations. It’s very difficult to be young today. Maybe when they learn about her life, everything she did, they will be inspired” Filiberto said.

Queen Elena, he added, had a great influence on him.

“In our family, we talk about her all the time. All our charitable work is dedicated to her. I am very happy to visit Montenegro, this beautiful country, which is very rich in history and so close to my heart, and that I can talk about the incredible Queen Elena”said Filiberto.
