Đukanović: We will come out of this crisis
If he could find only one word to describe how competent authorities in Montenegro responded to the coronavirus outbreak, it would be responsibility, said Mr Milo Đukanović, president of Montenegro.
“It’s a professional, state and social responsibility. Montenegro has proven it can react efficiently and timely”, Mr Đukanović said.
He thinks those times have shown that the state is more developed and functional than many people thought.
“As Montenegrin citizens, we have many reasons to be satisfied”, Mr Đukanović said.
Montenegro had enough time to prepare well.
“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to people who made donations, companies, organizations, our friends and investors”, Mr Đukanović said.
However, it was impossible to avoid pandemic.
Mr Đukanović stressed that mortality rate is the lowest in the region and that the citizens of Montenegro have demonstrated great responsibility.
Asked if the current situation will teach us something and if we could come out better, president says:
“We are already better.”
A third package of economic measures is also needed
The state should prepare a set of economic measures said the President.
However, he is optimistic and believes that this experience will also show that the world is able to get out of the negative effects of crises.
“I have no dilemma that we will get out of the crisis, the only question is with what dynamics,” President Đukanovic said.
He recalls that the Government has already prepared two packages of assistance, intended for those most affected.
“It is also necessary to prepare a third package, much more invasive, purely economic, a package that will, give the dynamic to the Montenegrin economy that it had in the previous period,” Mr Đukanovic said.
