Darmanovic invited Pope Francis to visit Montenegro
Montenegro greatly appreciates the spiritual and moral reputation of the Holy See and its active and constructive role in resolving global political, economic, environmental and other issues, said the Montenegrin foreign minister Srdjan Darmanovic at the meeting with Pope Francis. He also invited him to visit Montenegro.
Darmanovic pointed out that he positively evaluated the efforts of Pope Francis for peace, justice and equality among people, strengthening the role of the family and the rule of law, his fight against terrorism, corruption and organised crime, as well as activities in assisting underdeveloped countries and poor people.
Darmanovic stayed in an official visit to the Holy See today. In addition to the Pope, he had separate meetings with cardinal Pietro Parolin, the state secretary of the Holy See, and monsignor Pole Richard Galager, secretary of the Holy See for relations with other countries.
The officials expressed mutual satisfaction with the bilateral relations between Montenegro and the Holy See. They said there were no outstanding issues between the states.
Darmanovic handed the state secretary Parolin Montenegrin prime minister Dusko Markovic’s letter in which he invited Pope Francis to visit Montenegro in the upcoming period.
