Citizens will be able to produce electricity in summer and use it in winter
Citizens who have the opportunity to produce electricity from solar panels can accumulate it in the distribution system during spring and summer, and use it in autumn and winter, representatives of the Ministry of Economy explained.
They pointed out that the amendments to the Law on Energy, recently adopted by the parliament, improve the existing possibility of electricity production.
“Article 96 of the existing Law on Energy stipulates that all consumers, i.e. all natural and legal persons, have the opportunity to produce electricity for their own needs. At the same time, they have the opportunity to temporarily store surplus electricity by transferring it to the electricity distribution network of CEDIS, and later, when they need it, take it back and use it”, the Ministry of Economy emphasised.
During summer, as they explained, there’s a greater electricity production and less consumption, compared to winter. For this reason consumers should be able to transfer the surplus energy produced from one month to another, and that balancing should be done once a year.
The Ministry of Economy made an additional benefit for the citizens by choosing March 31 as the date of the annual calculation.
