Bulgaria takes over the EU Council presidency: Support to Montenegro
The friendly relations between Montenegro and Bulgaria are reflected through the reliable partnership that will be further enhanced with the strong support to our country on its EU path in the coming period, during the Bulgarian presidency of the Council of the EU. It was said at the meeting of Interior Minister Mevludin Nuhodzic and the ambassador of Bulgaria in Montenegro, Mladen Chervenyakov.
Sofia takes over the presidency over the Council of the European Union in January.
Pointing out that the integration of the Western Balkans will be in the focus of Bulgaria’s presidency, the officials noted at the meeting that Montenegro had achieved good results in the area of rule of law, the adoption of international standards, as well as in the implementation of reforms in order to meet the criteria arising from the negotiation chapters.
Commenting on the recent successful fulfilment of the foreign policy goal, ie becoming a NATO member state, minister Nuhodzic said that Montenegro was intensively and dynamically working on the implementation of obligations from the EU negotiation process.
