Bjelasica to be better ski resort than Kopaonik
Until recently Bjelasica was considered a desolate mountain. Today we are building the road to the Kolasin 1600 site. Until recently, we were skiing only at the Jezerine 1450 site. Now we are going further, to the 1600 site, so the Bjelasica mountain, once the project is finished, will have 250km of skiing trails and will become a serious winter tourist centre in Europe, the leader of the Democratic Party of Socialists Milo Djukanovic is convinced.
At a panel in Berane, he emphasised the significance of the Bjelasica project and said that the money for the project implementation had been allocated.
“At the time when I left the government, we provided funds in the budget to complete all projects on the Bjelasica mountain by the end of 2019. That money exists. Once the project is completed, Bjelasica will have 250km of skiing trails. Compared with Kopaonik, which has 50km of skiing trails, Bjelasica becomes a serious winter tourist centre in Europe. We are working on that – the road is being constructed, power supply infrastructure is being installed, the basic settlement is being built, the cable car is being installed… We are inviting private and foreign investors to build hotels and restaurants and hire people,” said Djukanovic.

In addition to the cable car, at the location of the Kolasin 1600 ski resort, the construction of over 4km skiing trails and the artificial snow making system are planned. The value of the works is about €9m.
The total value of the investment for the construction of the ski centre is €22m.
Construction of the road from the Kolasin 1450 ski resort to Kolasin 1600 is also under way. This part of the project is €2m worth. The Jezerine transmission substation is installed, which will provide power supply to both complexes.
The ski resort is expected to be ready for the 2018-2019 winter season.
The Bar-Boljare highway represents an additional impetus to the project.
Once the priority highway section is completed, it will take 40-45 minutes to get from the Podgorica airport to the ski resort in Kolasin. It will make the resort one of the best connected ski resorts in the region.
