Duško Marković Heads for First Meeting with Merkel
On Friday , 17 August the Prime Minister of Montenegro Dusko Markovic will pay an official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany .
The Montenegrin Prime Minister will be hosted by German Cancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin.
The first official visit of Markovic will be an opportunity to exchange views with Merkel on bilateral relations and economic links between Montenegro and Germany, the economic cooperation of the countries of the Western Balkans, as well as European integration of Montenegro.
Markovic is the second Montenegrin premier ever to be invited to officially visit Berlin after the country gained independence in 2006.
Markovic and Merkel spoke in Trieste at the Summit of the Western Balkans in July 2017 and in May 2018 in Sofia at the EU – western Balkans Summit.
At previous meetings the two state officials discussed a variety of topics reguarding security, illegal migration ,political issues concerning the Western Balkans region, implementation of the fiscal consolidation measures and reforms in the justice sector.
